Social Work

Objectives :

  • To inculcate morals and manners in slum children who are often neglected.

  • To teach the importance of discipline and regularity.

  • To help slum children in learning prayers, yoga and bhajans.

  • To impart overall holistic education.

Work :

Thrice a week from 6p.m to 8.p.m kids were taught moral education, Physical education and bhajans.

Achievements :

  • Children stopped using slangs and abuse words.

  • Children learnt the importance of clean surroundings.

  • Children started showing better results in academics.

  • Children understood the value of truth and honesty.

Objectives :

Developing the talent of underprivileged kids of Surat in areas of craft, yoga, science and sports.

Work :

Kids of slum areas especially the high achievers studying in classes 5th-8th were called in these workshops where they were trained to cultivate interests in science, sports, art etc. The workshops were conducted once a month and 10 times a year from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

Work areas :

  • Rander Area- 450 students benefitted from these workshops.

  • Katargram Area- 540 students benefitted from these workshop

Objectives :

To promote the spirit of science in underprivileged kids and indentify those who have the potential to pursue scientific career.

Work :

  • From 2009-2011
    The workshops were conducted once a month and kids of standard 5th-8th were invited to attend these workshops. The instructors were 30 B.Ed students who conducted and taught everyday science experiments to kids.

  • From 2011-Till Now
    We visit week to our every centres with science experiments tools and we teach them science experiments.

    • Udhana (Pandesara Gam) – About 500 kids benefitted from these workshops.

    • Varachha- About 200 kids benefitted.

  • From 2011- Till Now
    Mobile Laboratory is now operating in 10 centers in Surat City and in more than 9 nearby villages of Surat. Till now more than 6000 slum kids are benefited from this innitiavtive.

Achievements :

Children were taught science experiments as a result they learnt to identify science in everyday life and started recognizing various instruments and materials used in the experiments.

Objectives :

To provide Employment to the "Halpati"(ST) Tribal according to their skill and education in various industries like Textile, Diamonds, Automobile, Nursing, Tailoring, Bakery etc.

Achievements :

Total employed Persons- 110

Objectives :

    To provide free tuitions to underprivileged kids of standard 1st- 8th so as to fill the void created by abysmal teaching standard in government schools.

Work :

Children are taught Maths, Science, English, Computer etc from 4 p.m to 7 p.m in the evening.

Work :

Classes were conducted daily in the evening from 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. Kids were taught science experiments, art, craft, good handwriting, songs etc.

Around 3000 kids benefitted from these workshops.

Objectives :

To inculcate reading habits in underprivileged children by distribution/exchange of free books. Various com1ics like Panchatantra, Akbar-Birbal, animal stories and mythological books were given to the kids. These books not only helped them in inculcating reading habits but also provided moral education.

Work :

3 times a week volunteers will go and distribute books. About 5000 kids will benefit from this initiative.

To provide One Month Internship Experience to the college students. This program has two phase:

1. Summer Internship

2. Winter Internship

Achievements :

Students from Prestigious University & Institute like IIT-B, IIM, SVNIT-Surat, Nirma, IGNOU, AURO University, Karnavati University, S.C.E.T Engg. College, Dr. S&SS Gandhy College,etc have already experienced this program.

More than 80 Students have already taken Internship under "Prayas".
